Our Team
Tom Molkens
Tom started his career in 2008 as a process engineer with Total in the port of Antwerp. His tasks mainly included the daily monitoring of the installations and increasing reliability and safety. In 2013, he made the switch to ISMA, as explosion safety consultant. Some of the tasks within this position are performing risk analyses of various processes, evaluating the explosion safety of equipment and investigating (explosion) incidents. Tom is also a member of the international standards committee that draws up and revises the standards for explosion protection systems.
Ruben Vermeylen
Ruben graduated in 2009 as a civil chemical engineer at the Catholic University of Leuven. That same year, he started his career as a lecturer in chemistry and mechanics at the Catholic University of Leuven. From 2012 to 2018, he worked as a production engineer in the gelatin factory of Tessenderlo Group in Vilvoorde. In May 2018, he joined ISMA as the 3rd consultant next to Ake Harmanny and Tom Molkens. Ruben is now specialising in carrying out risk analyses of gas and dust explosions but also takes part in (online) training courses.
Michel Vandeweyer
After graduating in 2012 as an industrial engineer in chemistry, Michel started working as a process operator at chemical giant BASF, mainly to supplement his theoretical education with a solid portion of practical experience. After some wandering in the process chemistry and chemical logistics, he started at the Lawter company, also in chemistry, where he was active as production supervisor. This automatically meant that he was also head of the internal fire brigade and became an industrial helper.
The additional training as a prevention advisor made him realise that the path of protecting people and machines was one that he wanted to pursue. The position of explosion safety consultant at ISMA is therefore an excellent match. Michel has been part of our team since 2020.
Jan Janssens
Jan graduated as a Civil Engineer in Materials Science from the Catholic University of Leuven in 2003. He started his career as a production engineer in the metallurgical industry. Corus in Duffel and Cumerio in Olen. He subsequently worked as a maintenance consultant for several years. In March 2023, he joined ISMA. Jan is helping to build up the activities for drafting EVDs (explosion safety documents).
Héloïse Gennart
Héloïse joined ISMA in 2023 after having worked for more than 14 years in explosion risk management for ENGIE. Her main areas of expertise include conducting risk analyses, preparing explosion protection documents (EPD), and process safety. She has led numerous HAZOP studies and conducted ATEX risk studies for various types of dusts, vapours and gases. She has also specialised in risk management of new technologies such as energy storage systems or hydrogen. Certified ISM-ATEX (Installation, Service, Maintenance in ATEX zones) by Ineris since 2011, Héloïse has given more than a hundred ATEX training courses for operators, electricians, project managers or prevention advisors.
Our honorary member:
Ake Harmanny
Ake retired in 2021, but still supports us, mainly with advice, less so with action. Ake has built a career from strength calculations of structures to explosion safety. In recent years, he has passed on this knowledge to his colleagues.
